General Thoughts / Observations

The hysplit projection did not look exciting, but I wanted a Christmas flight. Using a WSPR tracker and a single qualatex balloon, the flight started with the balloon climbing at 3.6 feet per second and leveling off at 24,000 feet. Over the next 6.5 days it turned into a personal record for both miles (5,010) and hours in flight (155).

This flight enjoyed very steady float levels, with both day and night repeating the same levels. The weather helped, there were no storms in the area. The WSPR signals were plentiful, which is not always the case. Almost reached Europe, we are getting close.

Thoughts for next time

The next flight will likely be with a 52” TR9 balloon. The question remains about free lift, with the more stretchy material, should the free lift be greater? Might try going to 4 grams as a small step up.
